It’s been a busy 2 weeks for Costco as they move forward on their first Milwaukee County store in Franklin. They got their development agreement finalized with the city, purchased the land for their store from Northwestern Mutual, and now the big announcement – they’re starting construction.
The store, at 164,000 sq ft with a 12-pump gas station, is scheduled to be open in November – just in time for Christmas shoppers.
“This has been a long and exciting planning process, and I know many people in Franklin are happy to hear this news,” said Franklin Mayor John Nelson. “We look forward to the spark Costco will bring to Franklin and the other large tenants this may attract to the Northwestern Mutual site.”
Costco will be at the NW corner of 27th and Drexel, just south of Northwestern Mutual’s Franklin Campus. Northwestern Mutual’s employees in Franklin will get a very brief pleasure of working next to Costco, though. They’re scheduled to relocate their offices to Northwestern Mutual’s newly modernized North Office Building in Downtown Milwaukee next year.
