This morning, the Franklin Police Department posted on social media that they responded to two incidents, one resulting in an arrest for disorderly conduct.
The first incident was when FPD dispatch received a report of a naked man with a gun in the middle of a street. Shortly after, another incident was phoned in regarding several shirtless people loudly arguing outside a residence with threats to kill each other. It was determined that both of these incidents were connected to a game Franklin High School students are playing, called “Paranoia”.
FPD notes two things here – both consequences of poorly chosen decisions by the students. The first being the significant response and manpower to address these incidents. With the case of the naked man in the street, FPD states they had to close off the street and disrupt the morning commute. Second, the police note that in other parts of the country when teens attempt to play this “game”, it ends on far worse notes for the teens.
“We are seeking assistance from the public in educating our youth on the seriousness of these incidents and the potential consequences that may result,” writes FPD. “Police Officers must respond to these incidents in a manner ensuring public and personal safety and take them very seriously.”
