One of these billboards is slated to support a medication safety and disposal ad courtesy of the Franklin Health Dept.

Thanks to state grant funding, the Franklin Health Department plans to install at least one billboard aimed at addressing a growing community concern: behavioral health.

As part of tonight’s Consent Agenda, the department is seeking Common Council approval for a $2,000 contract with Clear Channel Outdoor. The cost will be fully covered by the State Opioid Response Prevention grant, with no impact on taxpayers.

The billboard will focus on promoting medication safety and proper disposal practices. There is no proposed design available in the Council packet.

The location has been a point of discussion in the past, with long-term hopes of removing the billboards altogether to encourage redevelopment. Residents have often described this area, along with the 27th Street and Ryan Road entrance to Franklin, as underwhelming, particularly given its proximity to the city’s official gateway sign.
