It is with much sadness to report that former Franklin Police Chief Rick Oliva passed away on April 14th. He served Franklin as its Police Chief for 18-and-a-half years, and previously served the City of Milwaukee for 27 years, departing there for Franklin at the rank of Captain.
Oliva was highly respected in the community, earning the admiration of many by his professionalism and how he handled himself in the role as Chief of Police. His service to Franklin was not about to end post-retirement, either. The Common Council just last week approved his Mayoral appointment to the city’s Police and Fire Commission. His appointment was lauded by many residents, and a post here discussing it received many positive and supportive responses from a community glad seeing Oliva back as a volunteer.
Franklin Today extends its thoughts, prayers and condolences to Chief Oliva’s family.
