While Franklin approved the Poth’s General TID last week, Greendale is working on bigger plans for the former Boston Store at Southridge. In 2021, the Village bought the Boston Store building for $3.3 million and put it out for bid for developers to redevelop it. The following year, in 2022, the Village approved a $10.6 million TID to help get the project moving. The winner of the redevelopment project went to Barrett Lo Visionary Development, the developer of The Parterre at Emerald Row at Drexel Town Square, and The Couture and Moderne apartment towers in Downtown Milwaukee.

Barrett Lo’s winning plan, dubbed, “The District”, incorporates several apartment buildings where Boston Store and its parking lot once stood. The first apartment building, which will include retail and amenity options on the street level, is shown below. Plans are for the demolition of the Boston Store building to be sometime this year. #apartment #greendale #malls #development
